The device consists of a fixed part, the support 1, which has a rim 2 used for fixing it within the inspection hole 3 of the septic tank 4. The pipe 5 for the outlet of the waste water 6 projects on the support 1 to which it is attached. The interchangeable part consisting of the prefilter cartridge 7, which contains the filtering materials 8 based on expanded polystyrene floculi, bears on the lower edge 9 of the support 1. The cartridge 7, which bears on the support 1, is immobilised on the latter by means of a locking system 10 and comprises, on the cover 13, a swelling which is used as a handle 12. When it is released, after unlocking 10 from its support 1, the cartridge 7, which is submerged, is ejected towards the top of the septic tank 4, by the thrust from the water which is exerted on its body by virtue of the emergence property of the expanded polystyrene floculi. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for prefiltering waste water by means of an interchangeable cartridge incorporated in septic tanks and to allow a simple and practical manipulation in the event of it being clogged. <IMAGE>
