PURPOSE:To eliminate wasteful operation time and to improve productivity of an operation for cross compression of a slab by transferring the entire part of a compressing machine in a conveyance direction while compressing a large- weight long-sized material and returning the same to the home position upon completion of the compression. CONSTITUTION:The compressing machine body 1 is fixed on an upper stand 2 and is imposed on a lower stand. Said machine is provided movably in the transfer direction (a) of the slab by means of connecting rods 5 mounted on eccentric shafts 4. Metallic molds which are not shown in the figure move near to each other in a direction (b) and start compressing when the slab is inserted between a pair of said molds. Motors 8 are then driven to move the stands 2 in the direction (a) and the slab is conveyed while compressed. The stands 2 are moved in the opposite direction and are reset to the home position upon completion of the compression. The wasteful operation time is, therefore, eliminated and the productivity of the operation for the cross compression of the slab is improved as compared to a method for compressing the large- weight long-sized material after once stopping the same. |
