PURPOSE:To permit measurement of a magnetic head position without generating distortion in reproduction waveform by acting an AC magnetic field to a recording medium as a preprocessing so that AC demagnetization is executed before a burst signal for measuring the magnetic head is recorded on the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:AC demagnetization is first executed by using a demagnetizer in an AC demagnetization stage and the measuring signal such as azimuth burst signal is recorded on the disk in the next burst signal recording stage. Whether the recording accuracy of the recorded signal is within a target value or not is thereafter inspected in a stage for inspecting the accuracy of the recording signal. Recording of the measuring signal such as cat's eye signal except the burst signal is executed in the other signal recording stage if said accuracy is within a target value. The above-mentioned operation is repeated if the recording accuracy is not within the target range in such a manner by which the recording medium formed with the desired measuring signal is obtd.
