The invention relates to a differential which locks automatically as soon as one wheel loses its adherence, thus making it possible to transmit the power to the other wheel. It is made up of a body 1 having two slopes 7 and 8 on which there rest the flanges 2 and 4 each one having a raceway 9 and 10, a ball 3 being trapped in the widest part of the V formed by the flanges 2 and 4. The pins 11 and 12 provide the rotational link between the flanges 2 and 4 and the shafts 5 and 6. When the body 1 starts to rotate, it entrains the assembly leaving the possibility for relative movement of the flanges 2 and 4 between each other by means of the ball 3. In contrast, if one wheel loses its adherence, the torque is transmitted to the other wheel because a movement of just one flange with respect to the body is impossible if a torque is transmitted. <IMAGE>
