A clamp element which can be pushed on to a grilling spit in order to clamp the food being grilled has arms, which project against the food being grilled and are preferably capable of penetrating into the food being grilled, and at least one resilient element, by means of which the arms are supported by spring force in their action upon the food being grilled. The arms can embrace the food being grilled and be constructed themselves as resilient elements. The arms can also be constructed as resilient spreading elements which can be inserted into a hollow space in the food being grilled. Also, the clamp element can have at least one gripping element which bears arms and is movable in the longitudinal direction of the grilling spit, in which case a compression spring which acts on the gripping element in the longitudinal direction of the grilling spit is provided as resilient element.
