An electric insulator comprising an insulating rod (10) and metal ferrules (13,14), has sheds (22) moulded in situ; the moulding covering the ends of the ferrules thereby inhibiting arcing between them. The moulding shrinks onto the rod (10) so eliminating voids within the insulator. One ferrule has a threaded spigot (18) and the other holes (19,191) for receiving a supporting pin. <IMAGE>
