Method of marking the starting point of an endless magnetic tape

For marking the starting point of an endless magnetic tape, in addition to a conductive foil, during the initialisation run a marking tone of a defined length and frequency is recorded. During all further runs of the endless magnetic tape, the starting point is established just by the detection of this marking tone.
