<p>In order to provide equipment with fail-safe characteristics in the event of accidents or failures that could disable the protective device of electrically driven, in particular portable apparatuses with a movable mains connection line and an electronic protective device arranged in the plug as anti-leakage means or to protect the user, a shielded, twin-conductor mains connection line (50) is provided. A closed circuit current loop is formed between the plug (60) and the apparatus (30) by the leads (21, 23) and shielding (22) of the mains connection line (50), including a probe (40, 41) located in the apparatus. A static current flows in the loop, and depending on the kind of failure either falls below a lower threshold or increases beyond an upper threshold, triggering the protective device (3-20).</p> |
