A process for producing low-carbon ferrochromium, which comprises melting ores containing oxies of Cr and Fe a melting furnace, taking up the molten metal in a ladle, adding thereto a reducing agent such as SiCr, and introducing thereinto an oxidizing gas or an inert gas at a rate of more than 7.0 and at most 29.0 l/min per ton of the molten metal to thereby stir it by bubbling. An arbitrary amount of bubbling gas is introduced into the molten metal after the addition of the reducing agent to stir and, after lowering the temperature of the molten metal by this bubbling, the molten metal is reladled to reduce the concentration of nitrogen.
|
