PURPOSE:To enable accurate recording or correction according to a few kinds of media, by providing a plurality of arrays of heat generating parts comprising heat generating elements so that the heat generating parts can be selectively used for recording or correction by different kinds of media, respectively. CONSTITUTION:End parts of signal electrodes 5, 15 and common electrodes 6, 16 are connected to a controlling part 24 through a flexible printed circuit 23 comprising copper foil leads adhered to a flexible resin ribbon, and heat generating parts 9, 19 are driven according to mode designated by a mode- selecting part 25 to respectively heat different media (for example, an ink ribbon as a recording medium and a correction ribbon as a correcting medium) in dot form with respectively predetermined heating values. the thickness and width of heat generating element layers 4, 14, the signal electrodes 5, 15, the common electrodes 6, 16 and the flexible printed circuit 23 and a power source therefor are set according to the characteristics of the medium used. Thus, one of the media can be used of the heat generating part 9, whereas the other medium can be used at the heat generating part 19. |
