<p>A process for preparing tetrakis (3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionyloxymethyl)methane by conducting an ester-exchange reaction of an alkyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate with pentaerythritol in the presence of a basic catalyst, which comprises conducting the reaction in the presence of bis (2,2,2-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethoxy)-methane. This process enables highly pure tetrakis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionyloxymethyl)methane to be prepared in a good yield without the necessity of using a large amount of expensive alkyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate while yielding a reduced amount of by-products.</p> |
