PURPOSE:To permit a proper defrosting timing and high efficiency heating operation generating no disturbance, by a method wherein a temperature difference is corrected to a value corresponding to an operating condition before fluctuation when big fluctuation is generated in the temperature difference of fluid to be heated due to the switching of the flow rate of the fluid to be heated during heating operation. CONSTITUTION:A temperature difference correcting means 2 compares a temperature difference DELTATn with the temperature difference DELTATn-1 of previous time every time when a temperature difference operating means 1 operates the temperature difference DELTATn. When the absolute value of the difference is larger than a predetermined value, the temperature difference correcting means 2 operates the ratio of the temperature difference DELTATn-1 of previous time to the same DELTATn of this time as a corrective coefficient (a) and multiplies respective corresponding temperature differences DELTATn after this time, which is operated by the operating means 1, by the correcting coefficient (a) to correct the temperature difference to the corresponding temperature difference DELTAT'n with respect to an operating condition before the operation of previous time. When the switching of the flow rate of fluid to be heated or the capacity control of a compressor is to be performed, the operation of heating capacity in accordance with the actual state may be effected and a proper defrosting timing may be obtained since the temperature difference DELTATn, which is the operating factor of the heating capacity, is corrected by the temperature difference correcting means 2.
