Tufting machine with grippers for loop and velours formation, grippers suitable respectively only for loop formation or only for velours formation being arranged in a predetermined sequence in a common gripper bar or its modules. By means of a machine designed according to the invention, the surface patternings of tufting products can be manufactured in an economical way. Additional patterning possibilities also emerge when the needle-bar racking technique is adopted.
