Automatic welding equipment for welding under an inert gas has means for producing a high voltage peak for starting the welding arc and means for mixing the arc start voltage and the arc feed voltage which start voltage can be superimposed automatically on the feed voltage or interrupted automatically after the arc has been started. The equipment is adaptable and has no moving parts.
