To block access to a processing unit (1), particularly a personal computer, the usual practice is to block a keyboard of the processing unit using a locking device in the form of a key-operated switch. However, if the processes which run on the processing unit run for a relatively long time, and can run unattended, the operator may temporarily leave the processing unit and do other work. There is then the danger of data media such as floppy disks or magnetic tape cassettes being removed from the storage units of the processing unit without authority. According to the invention, a cover, which can be fitted over the storage units of the processing unit and locked, is provided. The cover can be in the form of a flap which can be shifted or swivelled, a cover which can be inserted, or like a roller shutter. The invention can be used with storage units provided with removeable data media, particularly for personal computers. <IMAGE>
