[Also in Division E2] A wrap around tape reel cover comprises a series of teeth adjacent one end and attached to the other end an overlapping member also having a series of teeth such that the teeth of the cover and overlapping member respectively selectively engage with one another in any one of several positions depending on the predetermined diameter of the wrap around cover and means being provided for retaining the teeth in engagement. The cover 12 is provided with continuous grooves for the flanges of the reel. An arcuate shield is attached to one end portion 14b and has a boss 44 which extends through an aperture in the other sliding end portion 14a and in a retainer 38 which has teeth 58 which are urged to engage teeth 60 on the other end portion 14a by a leaf spring 50 mounted over the retainer on the boss. The teeth are disengaged by pressing a button 66 on the retainer 38, the button extends through the aperture in the end portion 14a and an aperture in the shield 30. A lip 70 at one end of the retainer engages the end 72 of the end portion 14a in the open position of the cover to retain the cover in the open position. A sealing member 24 is secured to the end portion 14b. The cover may be injection moulded. |
