PURPOSE:To improve ductility and torsional workability by specifying the compsns. of C, Mn, P, S, Si, Cr with O and giving a specific working strain to a high strength steel in which the compsns. of nonviscous interpositions are controlled. CONSTITUTION:The high strength steel wire rod contains, by weight, 0.6-1% C, 0.3-0.7% Mn, <=0.025% P, <=0.025% S, 0.4-0.8% Si, 0.2-0.6% Cr and 15-50ppm total oxygen. >=80% compsns. of the nonviscous interpositions are further formed of 25-70% SiO2, 5-40% MnO, <=40% MgO, <=35% Al2O3, <=25% CaO, etc. The working strain of >=96% reduction of area is then added to the wire rod to make the same to <=0.4mm extra fine wire in the final wire drawing stage.
