PURPOSE:To find the defective part of a microprogram in its early stage by detecting an error by an error detecting means when a write enable signal is detected continuously without the intervention of a read enable signal. CONSTITUTION:When the microprogram uses two registers 2a in duplicate, the write enable signal 4a of the microprogram is outputted and the output signal 6a of a latch 6 is set, and then the write enable signal 4a of the microprogram is further outputted. Simultaneously, the output signal 7a of an AND gate 7 goes to '1' and is outputted as an error detection signal. Then the contents of the register 2a are varied at this point of time. Accordingly by monitoring the error detection signal, the presence or absence of the defect of the microprogram and its position can be immediately detected.
