This new decorative sheet comprises a layer of coloured opaque resin (1) in which a plurality of wooden chips are scattered. The wooden chips are exposed on the exterior of the flat outer surface. In one modification of this sheet a transparent resin layer is formed on the layer of coloured opaque resin. Another modification of this sheet comprises a substrate (2), a layer of a coloured opaque resin formed on (2) and a transparent resin layer formed on (1). Another modification of the decorative sheet comprises a layer of a coloured opaque resin (1) and a glass fibre-contg. transparent layer. In all modifications of the decorative sheet a plurality of wood chips are scattered on the coloured opaque resin layer (1) so that they are exposed on the exterior surface, which must be flat. The coloured opaque resin is specified to be a thermosetting resin which may be mixed with filler. A typical method of producing the decorative sheet consists of the following processes 1) the thermosetting resin liq. is mixed with filler 2) the mixt. is flattered 3) the wood chips are scattered on the surface 4) the sheet is solidified by heating and pressurising 5) the surface is ground and planed.
