1,272,131. Electrophotographic element. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1969 [21 Sept., 1968], No. 46340/69. Heading H1K. [Also in Division G2] An electrophotographic element comprises two photoconductive layers with or without an intermediate layer, the spectral sensitivity of the photoconductive layers differing over at least a portion of the spectral range, one of the photoconductive layers being insulative in the dark and the other photoconductive layer having a lower electrical resistance than the one layer. In an embodiment an aluminium or brass plate 2 has an optional barrier layer 3 thereon and a photoconductive layer 4 which may or may not be a photoconductive insulator, e.g. As selenide, an alloy of Se + Te or As + Sb + Se, CdS activated by Cu or CdS+CdI on CdCO 3 together with an acrylic resin and a dye. An optional intermediate layer 5 of MgF, polyvinyl acetate, polycarbonate or an acrylic resin is applied and a photoconductive insulator 6, e.g. Se, polyvinyl carbazole, anthracene dispersed in a silicone resin or CdS + CdI on CdCO 3 together with an acrylic resin. An optional covering 7 of a polycarbonate resin may be applied. Many other materials are specified for the various layers. |
