PURPOSE:To obtain a safe lotion composition capable of stably including a large amount of aromatic volatile substance and suppressing the dissipation of the substance and giving low irritation to the skin, by using a specific methylated beta-cyclodextrin and an aromatic volatile substance as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective lotion composition contains (A) a methylated beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) having a weight-average ether substitution degree of 8.0-11.0 and containing >=50wt.% methylated beta-CD having an ether-substitution degree of 8-11 and produced by reacting 1mol of a beta-CD with 8-30mol of dimethyl sulfate in an aqueous solvent in the presence of an alkaline compound at 0-80 deg.C and (B) an aromatic volatile substance such as eugenol, amyl acetate, and camphor. The amounts of the components A and B in the composition are 0.1-10% (preferably 0.2-5%) and 0.01-2% (preferably 0.02-1%), respectively, and the amount of the component A is preferably 2-10pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the component B. |
