<p>An expansion joint seal assembly comprising elastomeric face and back seals (32, 34) joined by a tear strip (36) and mounted between abutting adjacent building surfaces (26, 30) by press-fitting holding arrows (50, 62) integrally formed with the face and back seals (32, 34) into corresponding receptacles (72, 78) in a retaining frame (22, 24) mounted to each of the building surfaces (26, 30). The elastomeric face and back seals (32, 34) are provided with accordionlike surface contours (42, 60) that allow the space between the abutting building surfaces (26, 30) to expand and contract due to thermal expansion. wind drift, settling and seismic motions upon the building structure while maintaining an impervious seal. The elastomeric face and back seals (32, 34) and tear strip (36) are produced from a single extrusion of a flexible material. and may be of a type susceptible to coloration.</p> |
