PURPOSE:To execute a power assist for steering only rear wheels when a vehicle is running at an intermediate or high speed by providing passages between a front wheel power cylinder and a rear wheel power cylinder, with a direction selector valve changed over depending upon a vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION:A direction selector solenoid valve V1 is provided at passages 6 and 7 connecting a front wheel power cylinder S1 to a rear wheel power cylinder S2. Inlet and outlet ports 16 and 17 continuous to a control valve V, front wheel ports 18 and 19 communicated to the chambers 2 and 3 of the front wheel power cylinder S1 and rear wheel ports 20 and 21 connected to the rear wheel power cylinder S2 are respectively formed on the valve body (a) of the direction selector solenoid valve V1. The valve body (a) is contacted by a push rod 25 and a spool 23 shifts, depending upon an exciting current for a solenoid 24. This solenoid 24 is connected to a controller C and the select capability of the spool 23 is controlled, depending upon the speed of a vehicle. |
