PURPOSE:To permit economical production of an information recording medium having an excellent protective film with high efficiency by coating the protective film on the medium surface by squeegee coating using a screen and curing the film by projection of UV rays thereto. CONSTITUTION:A UV curing coating compd. having 220-250 centipoise viscosity is coated to 10+ or -3mum average thickness through a screen having 35-500 mesh opening onto the information recording surface which is horizontally held at the time of forming the protective film on the information recording surface of a flat disk-shaped substrate. The coating is then subjected to a UV irradiation treatment after lapse of at least 2sec holding time. The protective film having the excellent characteristics is thereby provided on the information recording medium with high accuracy and high efficiency.
