PURPOSE:To accurately grasp variation of a transient phenomenon by inputting an infrared-ray temperature signal at a previously specified point on a scanning line and stopping measuring operation according to the result of comparison between the signal with a previously set threshold temperature value. CONSTITUTION:The infrared-ray video signal of an image pickup part 1 is A/D-converted by a conversion part 2, and supplied to a storage circuit 3 and an input circuit 7. The circuit 7 inputs temperature data at the point specified previously on the scanning line according to the signal of a synchronizing circuit 8 and supplies it to a comparing circuit 9. The circuit 9 compares the supplied signal with the preset threshold temperature value and sends a control signal to a control circuit 10 according to the comparison result to take a measurement for a predetermined time and then stop the measurement. A time varying image which is almost the threshold temperature value is therefore displayed on a display device 6. Consequently, variation of the transient phenomenon is accurately grasped.
