PURPOSE:To facilitate preparing a coating liquid for forming a recording layer and prevent a substrate from being dissolved by the coating liquid, by using a fluorohydrocarbon as a solvent for preparing the coating liquid. CONSTITUTION:As a solvent for preparing a coating liquid, a fluorinated aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon is used. The fluorinated aromatic hydrocarbon may be, for example, a fluorinated benzene. The fluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon may be, for example, a 1-20C alkane with at least one hydrogen atom substituted by a fluorine atom. A coloring matter may be any one conventionally known as a material for an information recording medium. The fluorohydrocarbon used as the solvent ensures high solubilities of coloring matters such as a cyanine coloring matter therein, so that the coating liquid for forming the recording layer can be easily prepared. The fluorohydrocarbon does not dissolve a substrate constituted of a plastic material such as a polycarbonate, so that the substrate will not be dissolved in the coating process. |
