PURPOSE:To correctly locate the tip of a torch irrespective of the decentering of the nozzle of the torch by correcting an error by detecting it with a detection device after locating the torch interval by automatically moving the carriage holding the torch of the cutting device arranging the torch in parallel and detection device. CONSTITUTION:A torch carriage 8 and the detecting mechanism carriage 24 are moved to the position stipulated for by a numerical signal. The interval of each torch 6 held by the carriage 8 is then set and simultaneously a detector 22 is located by a detector carriage 24. The center position of a nozzle 19 is then confirmed by detecting the jet port of the nozzle 19 or the airstream 21 injected therefrom to correct the displacement of the nozzle against the detector 22. In the case of a cutting after completion of the setting of the nozzle 19, the arm 23 of the detection device 22 is rotated by a pin 29 to retreat from the high heat at cutting time.
