PURPOSE:To shorten a transfer idle time by arranging within a drum a fixed guide rail for guiding a workpiece and a movable rail capable of opening and closing for holding the workpiece after its attitude is changed and by changing the attitude by the turn of the drum. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece Wc of a previous process is held with movable rails 20a, 20b, 21 and a fixed guide member 22 and its attitude is changed. Under that condition, a transfer bar 14 advances while the movable rails are opened with cylinders 25 and 28. A workpiece Wa before its attitude is changed is guided while its underside is held with a support block 14a along fixed guide rails 17a and 17b and is transferred into a drum 13. At the same time the workpiece Wc is brought out. The drum 13 is then turned counterclockwise with a cylinder 15 and movable rails 20a, 20b and 21 are closed to hold the workpiece Wa. After that the bar 14 lowers and recedes, and the drum turns clockwise to change the attitude of the workpiece Wa. The above actions are repeated. In this way, a transfer idle time can be shortened while reducing the overall length of a machine to make a small space installation possible.
