PURPOSE:To quickly obtain in good productivity the title colorless transparent resin useful as a material for optical elements such as lenses and prisms, by polymerizing a monomer mixture or the like of a specified bisphenol monomer with a specified styrene monomer in the presence of a multicomponent radical polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture of 5-50pts.wt. bisphenol monomer of formula I (wherein R<1-2> are each H or CH3, R<3-4> are each a group of any one of formulas II-IV, X<1-4> are each Cl, Br or H and m is 0-3), e.g., 2,2- bis{3,5-dibromo-4-(2-methacryloyloxyethoxy)phenyl}propane, with 95-5pts.wt. styrene monomer of formula V (wherein Y is X and n is 1-5) or a syrup containing 3-40wt.% polymer of this mixture is cast at 50 deg.C or above in, if required, a molding frame in the presence of a multicomponent radical polymerization initiator comprising 0.01-5wt.%, based on the monomer mixture, polymerization initiator base (e.g., t-butyl peroxybenzoate) and 0.01-5wt.%, based on the monomer mixture, polymerization accelerator (e.g., glycol dimercaptoacetate).
