摘要 PURPOSE:To easily control the line thickness by providing a pen point which changes its position in response to the writing pressure and an electrode in the pen point for application of electric field fixed to a pen main body. CONSTITUTION:When a pen main body 37 is not pressed or pressed weakly, the electric field application electrode 1 is separate from a 2nd transparent electrode 13 and therefore just a weak electric field is applied to the electrode 13 from the electrode 1. Therefore such an intense electric field that inverts a chiral smetic C liquid crystal 10 is applied only to a point right under the pen 37. Thus only the liquid crystal molecules set within a small range right under the pen 37 are inverted despite the movement of the pen. Then the thin lines are obtained. On the other hand, when the pen main body 37 is pressed strong, the pen point 30 moves to the upper side of the pen and the distance between both electrodes 1 and 13 is reduced. Thus a strong electric field is applied to the electrode 13 from the electrode 1 and therefore not only the point right under the position where the pen moved but the peripheral molecules are inverted. Then the thick lines are obtained. Thus the line thickness can be changed in the natural sense.
