In a bag closing device, filled bags enter on a conveyer and their tops are folded and sealed with tape from a storage roll, the tape being scored and prefolded by mating rollers before being finally folded about and sealed to the bag. The tape 10, which may be of cardboard, is fed by rollers 12, 13 having complementary grooves which form a medial score line and slightly fold the tape into a V form. The knife 37 cuts a length of tape which is pushed along by reciprocating pushers 42 whilst being further folded by slightly converging guides 31, and then fed into the notches 50, 51 in a series of pivoted arms 52, 53, 61, 62 associated with stapling mechanism 71, 75, 76. The arms close together folding the tape on to the bag mouth previously closed by folding members 77, 78. The staples seal the bag which may then be conveyed to a handle forming device (not described). |
