PURPOSE:To obtain a hollow rotary body having high assembling accuracy and high dimensional accuracy, by engaging the inner peripheral surface of the end part of a cylindrical body and the outer peripheral surfaces of a pair of end plates through the recessed parts each having a positioning part formed to the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical body. CONSTITUTION:An end plate 12 is cooled to a degree capable of entering the opening part of a cylindrical body 11 or temp. control is performed by heating the cylindrical body 11 and force is applied to the end plate 12 to allow said plate 12 to advance to a guiding annular groove 13. Whereupon, the end plate 12 enters the guiding annular groove 13 in a loose-fit state. When temp. control is stopped, for example, by the expansion of the end plate 12 due to the sharp rising in the temp. thereof, the curved surface part 5 formed to the outer peripheral surface of the end plate 12 and the bottom surface of the guiding annular groove 13 gradually become a contact state. When force is applied to the end plate 12 in the axial direction at this time, the end plate 12 moves to a position where the pressure in the radius direction thereof becomes min. and the central position of the end plate 12 becomes the state entering the positioning annular groove 14 provided to the bottom part of the guiding annular groove 13 and both of them are surely engaged with each other.
