PURPOSE:To safely and securely execute the tape transfer and loading by providing inlet and outlet guides in a gateway for a magnetic tape and driving the tape to a position widely saved from a loading path when loading. CONSTITUTION:The inlet and outlet guides 18 and 19 are provided in the gateway of the magnetic tape 4 against a rotary head drum 7 (guide drum) provided on the way of the loading path. Then, the guides 18 and 19 are fitted on a pair of sliders 40a and 40b via supporting blocks 18a and 19a. At the time of loading the tape 4 by air, these guides 18 and 19 are driven to the position P3 widely saved from the loading path, whereas at the time recording or reproducing the tape 4, the guides are driven to a position P1 most adjacent to the drum 7. And, at the time of rewinding or fast forwarding of the tape 4,the guides are then driven apart a little from the drum 7 to a position P2. In this way, at the time of loading by air, the transfer and loading of the tape 4 are securely and smoothly carried out by means of those guides 18 and 19.
