PURPOSE:To ensure the smooth operation and to decrease the operation mistakes for selection of patterns by displaying all patterns on a screen and making an operator supply the nearby points of those patterns for selection of them when the plural patterns which satisfy the input data exist. CONSTITUTION:Plural patterns satisfy the input data when the patterns are selected by a capable word processor, a CAD/CAM system, etc. In such a case, all those patterns are displayed on a screen. Then an operator supplies a nearby point of the pattern to be selected and selects the relevant pattern based on said nearby point. The operator can easily supply the nearby points of the patterns to be selected since the patterns satisfying the input data are all displayed. Thus the smooth operation is secured together with decrease of the operation mistakes for selection of patterns.
