<p>PURPOSE:To detect a tape break in an early state, and to exactly execute a file recovery at the time point of detection, by executing a tape break check operation after having executed a rewinding operation of a magnetic tape device. CONSTITUTION:When rewinding is ended, a BOT detecting circuit 5 is set by a detection of BOT, an instructing circuit 6 for tape break check is operated, and a driving circuit 7 for operating an arm 11 in a magnetic tape device 3 is operated. In such a way, the arm 11 is set onto a tape, a tape reel is brought to one rotation, and during this time, thickness of the tape is checked, and its variation data is stored in a storing circuit 8. A result of this check is reported to a processor 1 by a reporting circuit 9, and if it is a normal report, the processor 1 ends the processing. On the other hand, if it is an abnormal report, a read operation is executed again through a data transfer part 2, and when re-read can be executed, the processing is ended. If re-read cannot be executed, a recovery processing is executed.</p> |
