PURPOSE:To obtain a compact color display device excellent in contrast and improved at the using efficiency of light from a light source by making color- separated light from an optical means having the same color wave selecting reflection film incident upon a light bulb through a reflecting plate and making the projected light from the light bulb again upon the optical means to compose colors. CONSTITUTION:White light 8 radiated from the light source 7, converged by a convergent lens 5 and made incident upon dichroic mirrors 1, 2 is decomposed into red (R), green (G) and blue (B). The separated color beams are bent at their directions and made incident upon a transmission type light bulb 4. The color beams image-modulated by the light bulb are made incident upon a dichroic mirror group again, the red, green and blue light components are reversibly composed and the composed light is projected to a screen 9 by a projection lens 6 to form an image. Consequently, the compact color display device prevented from the reduction of color reproducibility can be obtained. |
