PURPOSE:To enable an engine to be improved its startability, by decreasing a fuel injection when a spark plug is detected to be improper in its ignition condition. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control unit 30 calculates a fuel injection quantity to an engine 20 in accordance with its operative condition, detected by an intake pressure sensor 190, rotary angle sensor 260, water temperature sensor 240, etc., to be controlled by a fuel injection valve 154 performing fuel injection. Here the electronic control unit 30, which detects a condition of the engine 20, when it is started, being based on the input engine speed while on ignition condition of a spark plug 80, when the engine 20 is started, from an output signal of an ignitor 160, corrects thc fuel injection quantity so as to be decreased when fuel adheres to the spark plug 80. In this way, the engine 20 is prevented from resulting in its unable-to-start condition due to a lasting condition of improper ignition of the spark plug 80, accordingly, the engine 20 remarkably improves its startability.
