PURPOSE:To form a transparent film having superior scratch resistance by adding an oxyacid salt of zirconium and a silicon alkoxide or a deriv. thereof to a mixed soln. consisting of water and an org. solvent, further adding nonsettleable silica sol as required, mixing them and applying the resulting soln. to the surface of glass, plastics or the like. CONSTITUTION:An oxyacid salt of zirconium such as zirconium oxychloride or zirconium oxynitrate and a silicon alkoxide represented by a formula SiHa(OR)b (where a=0-3, b=1-4 and R is 1-8C alkoxy) or a deriv. thereof are added to a mixed soln. consisting of water and an org. solvent such as methanol or ethanol. After nonsettleable silica sol is further added as required, they are uniformly mixed and the resulting soln. is applied to the surface of a substrate of glass, plastics or the like. An SiO2-base film having superior scratch resistance, adhesion and transparency is formed without requiring baking at high temp. |
