PURPOSE:To cool an annular seal member, by forming cooling-air passages near a holding portion for passing air flow produced with traveling of a vehicle in connecting two exhaust pipes together by use of spring force by fitting an annular seal member to one exhaust pipe and keeping the seal member in spherical contact with the other exhaust pipe. CONSTITUTION:The front end portion of an inner pipe 3 is fitted into the rear end portion of a front-side exhaust pipe 1, and the rear end portion of the inner pipe 3 is fitted into a holding portion 4 having a seat 4a for holding an annular seal member 5, which seat 4a having an L-shaped cross section, and a joint portion 4b folded toward the inside. A spherical contact portion 7 of the seal member 5 is held in contact with a contact portion 9 formed at the front end portion of a rear-side exhaust pipe 2, and flanges 10, 11 fixed respectively to these exhaust pipes 1, 2 with a prescribed spacing from each other are connected together by means of nuts 14 and bolts 13 loaded with springs 15. Further, cooling- air inlet ports 16 are formed in the vicinity of the rear end of the front-side exhaust pipe 1 in the manner that they are opened toward the front of a vehicle, and cooling-air passages 6 are formed in the vicinity of the seal member holding portion. |
