PURPOSE:To improve the brightness in the radiation direction by providing a transparent proximity conductor closely to the outer face of a luminous tube on the radiation direction. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2, 2 are sealed at both ends of a luminous tube 1. A phosphor film 3 is coated on the inner face of the luminous tube 1. In this lamp, a proximity conductor 4 is provided on the outer face of the luminous tube 1 in the radiation direction, i.e., arrow direction. Even if a narrowly squeezed arc A is withdrawn by the proximity conductor 4, the proximity conductor 4 is provided closely to the side face of the radiation direction side, thus the phosphor film 3 located in the radiation direction of the luminous tube 1 has strong emission. Thereby, the luminous intensity in the radiation direction is increased, and the brightness is increased. Moreover, the proximity conductor 4 is transparent and does not shield the light in the radiation direction, and the light is hardly reduced. Accordingly, the light quantity toward the radiation direction is increased, and the brightness can be increased.
