PURPOSE:To manufacture low-carbon ferrochrome in which nitrogen concentration is arbitrarily regulated, by melting an ore material containing respective oxides of Cr and Fe to tap out the resulting molten metal into a ladle, by agitating the molten metal with the addition of a reducing agent, and then by reladling the molten metal reduced in temp. prescribed times. CONSTITUTION:The ore material containing respective oxides of Cr and Fe is melted in an electric furnace, etc., and tapped out into a ladle. A reducing agent such as SiCr, etc., is then added and the molten metal is subjected to bubbling agitation by means of an oxidizing or inert gas to accelerate reducing reaction. After the temp. of the molten metal is lowered, the molten metal is reladled prescribed times. By the combination of the above-mentioned bubbling and reladling, the low-carbon ferrochrome of prescribed nitrogen concentration can be manufactured in high Cr yield.
