PURPOSE:To prevent the increase of the thickness of a paint film and the occurrence of cratering defects at the time of drying and baking when a body to be painted is painted by electrodeposition and baked, by carrying out setting and air blowing for removing remaining paint without carrying out washing after painting by electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION:A body 5 to be painted is sent to a painting zone 1 by a conveyor 6, transferred to a lift 7 at a transfer part 8 and immersed in a soln. 10 of electrodeposition paint in a tank 9 by the lift 7. In the tank 9, a paint film is electrodeposited on the surface of the body 5. The body 5 is then moved upward by the lift 7 and sent to a setting zone 2 by the conveyor 6. In the zone 2, the soln. 10 sticking to the surface of the body 5 in excess and remaining on the inside drops. The body 5 is further sent to an air blowing zone 3 by the conveyor 6 and moved downward to an air blowing chamber 16 by the lift 7. In the chamber 16, air is blown on the surface of the body 5 and the parts such as the recesses in which the soln. 10 is liable to gather. The body 5 having no residual soln. 10 in the form of droplets on the surface and causing no dropping of the soln. 10 is baked to dry and cure the paint film.
