Method for the shaping of skylight domes from a sheet of thermoplastic resin, protected on both its faces with a film made of a thermoplastic resin having a softening point below the temperature at which deformation of the said sheet occurs, characterised in that the protective film 3 corresponding to the face of the sheet 1 which is to constitute the concave lower side of the dome of the skylight is removed, in that the peripheral edge of the sheet 1 and of the protective film 2 which is to lie on the convex face of the skylight are clamped, in that both faces of the sheet, still equipped with the protective film 2, are heated to the deformation temperature of the said sheet 1, heating occurring predominantly on the face which includes the protective film, and in that the said sheet 1 and its protective film are subjected to a forming action which simultaneously renders convex the sheet 1 and the protective film 2, heating being stopped and the sheet 1 being cooled until crystallizing (hardening). <IMAGE>
