PURPOSE:To suppress the adhesion of toner to an image holding body by arranging a metallic cleaning roller including a heat source and a cleaning member for cleaning the surface of said roller on a route from a secondary transfer part to a primary transfer part. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning roller 21 is arranged on the route from the secondary transfer part 15 to the primary transfer part 14 so as to be brought into contact with the toner forming face of an intermediate transfer body 6 and the cleaning member 23 is arranged so as to be brought into contact with the surface of the roller 21. The roll 21 is a cylindrical roll consisting of metal such as aluminium and a halogen lamp or the like is used for a heater 22. The member 23 is a roll obtained by winding heat-resistant felt 24b around a stainless core 24a. Toner left on a transfer body 6 after secondary transfer is stuck to the roller 21 driven to be rotated in contact with the transfer body 6 and the toner stuck to the roller 21 is removed by the member 23 driven to be rotated by the roller 21. Thus, toner adhesion to the image holding body can be suppressed and recording paper can be prevented from contamintion.
