PURPOSE:To shorten a time required for recognition by holding a source text in a format obtained by replacing a reserved word by a code and inputting the source text including the code directly by a compiler. CONSTITUTION:A reserved word encoding means 13 scans a source text to be the array of characters formed by a text forming/editing/displaying means 11 by referring to a storing means 12 for table corresponding to a reserved word code, converts the reserved word into its corresponding code to form an encoded source text 3. The text 3 is supplied to an encoded text recognizing means 22 in a compiler means 2. The recognizing means 22 recognizes that the code corresponds to the reserved word and that a word recognized as a name code is a general name code without collating it with the reserved word. Consequently, the time required for recognition can be shortened.
