The gripping apparatus (F), which is attached to the end of a gripping arm (G), is decelerated to "0" speed at the end positions and then smoothly accelerated again by means of a swivelling arm transmission which is arranged in the centre between the positions (A, B) and is driven by a motor (M) rotating at constant speed. The device is to be used as a sample changer for measuring devices of production monitoring. <IMAGE>
