The invention relates to a muzzle brake for a tube weapon having a through-hole (1) for the fired projectiles and a large number of openings (6) which deflect laterally a portion of the powder gases flowing out and extend laterally outwards from the through-hole (1). In order to reduce the pressure produced by the sound of firing on the ear of the person firing it is provided that outlet slots (9) are arranged on the barrel side, adjacent to the openings (6) and distributed over the circumference of the muzzle brake, which outlet slots (9) are directed obliquely forwards with respect to the muzzle side and originate from an expansion space (4) which is provided adjacent to the barrel end, in the region of the through-opening (1). <IMAGE>
