A current conducting system, in particular for lighting systems of the most varied types, has a current conducting rod, at least 50 % of the cross-section area thereof being occupied by at least two mutually-isolated metallic current conductors. Thus it is possible to work with high current densities, especially when using the current conducting system in the low voltage range. The current conducting rod is preferably round, so that holding clamps that carry electric consumers such as lamps, fans, etc. can be rotated thereon. Advantageous implementations of the holders allow the holders to swing as well, so that the user is virtually free to arrange and position the electric consumer as he wishes.
