PURPOSE:To prevent the data destruction of a magnetic face due to vibration by setting an optional value to a timer, counting the optional value by the timer, giving interruption and retracting a magnetic head to a track at the outside of the data storage area. CONSTITUTION:When a read command or a write command is outputted to a hard disk controller 4, the read/write of the hard disk 5 is applied. When the read/write is finished, a timer set to decide the timing to retract the magnetic head is applied to a timer LSI3. When the time reaches a set time, a timer interruption takes place and a program is started and a sequence command to move the magnetic head to the outermost circumference at the outside of the data storage area is outputted to the controller 4 and the magnetic head is retracted to the innermost circumference at the outside of the data storage area. Thus, even if the head is retracted at the outside of the data storage area due to vibration and the contact between the magnetic head and the magnetic face due to vibration takes place, the destruction of the magnetic face recorded with data is avoided.
