1281598 Work clamps DOVER CORP 7 Oct 1969 [8 Oct 1968] 49214/69 Heading B3B A work clamp comprises a mounting head 14 having a plurality of mounting faces, a clamping arm 16 mounted in a fixed pivot 18, and a fluid pressure linear actuator 12. The piston rod 30 of the actuator 12 is connected to a yoke member that carries a cross-pin 66 having rollers at each end that are guided in slots in the mounting head. The cross-pin 66 moves in a cam slot 22 formed in an actuating extension 20 of the clamping arm 16. The cam slot 22 has two relatively angled portions to produce rapid movement of the clamping arm during its non- clamping travel, and a wedge incline to ensure a high clamping force during clamping travel. A lost motion connection between the piston rod 30 and yoke member is provided to produce an inertial impact release of the clamping arm. The clamping arm has a limit stop by engagement with a part of the mounting head. The mounting head is provided with mounting slots 34 on all sides. Alternative clamping arms 116 may be assembled with the mounting head. |
